pre care
-
We advise you to schedule your treatment at least 3-4 weeks before a special event or holiday. Swelling and bruising starts to resolve around day 4, and most of the swelling will be gone by 2 weeks. Please do not book an appointment if you are not happy to wait 2 weeks for the final results.
-
To minimise the extent of bleeding and bruising at the injection sites, please avoid all blood-thinning medications and supplements for one week prior to your appointment. These include aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Omega 3 capsules and St. John's Wort. If you have a cardiovascular history, please consult your Consultant or GP prior to stopping any medication.
-
Arnica tablets can be obtained from most pharmacies and can be taken up to a week before your appointment. This is known to minimise the extent of bruising and bleeding.
-
Please avoid any alcoholic beverages for two days before your treatment. This can increase the risk and extent of bleeding, bruising and swelling which may impact your final results.
-
If you have a history of coldsores, please let us know prior to your appointment as we may need to prescribe some antivirals to prevent an outbreak post-procedure.
-
Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin, retinols, AHAs (lactic and glycolic acid) and BHAs (salicylic acid) for three days before your treatment.
-
If you are unwell with a virus or infection, we are unable to treat you on the day due to the risk of complications. Please contact us at the earliest convenience to move your appointment.
post care
It is very common to experience redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area immediately after treatment. This is normal and will generally resolve within a week, however residual swelling can take the full 2 weeks to subside. In the meantime, you may appear look asymmetric, lumpy and bumpy. As explained before your treatment, lumps and bumps are extremely common and can take 4-6 weeks to resolve. Please get in contact immediately on the emergency number as outlined at the bottom of this email if you notice the following after a dermal filler treatment; discolouration that does not look like a bruise and appears as blanching (white) in the areas that have been injected, extreme pain and mottling of the skin.
